Well, you just forever lost the upperhand in any argument with your child or partner urging them to please just make the bed already.
Why should they? This completely unmade bed with torn pillow cases, cigarette butts, a near-empty vodka bottle and dirty underwear around it sold at auction Monday for more than $4.3 million. Pretty sure we just redefined "cleaning up."
The crumpled mess of stained bed sheets and its untraditional decorations is a celebrated and controversial 1998 installation by the British artist Tracy Emin, called "My Bed." Emin has said the bed is displayed as it appeared after she spent several days in it battling suicidal thoughts following a break-up.
It was first bought in 2000 for more than $200,000 by Charles Saatchi, who brought it up to auction at Christie's in London, where Emin was on hand and cheered loudly when it sold for about 22 times that amount.
Also cheering loudly? 7-year-olds around the world.
