The return of "Reading Rainbow" looks like a sure bet thanks to actor LeVar Burton's very public push on social media to make it happen. The campaign for a Web reboot of the show has made 300% of its goal on Kickstarter only 48 hours after it launched! As of Saturday afternoon, the effort tallied more than $3 million and still counting.
Clearly, people are excited about the return of the beloved reading program geared toward children.
According to the Kickstarter video, with the help of backers, the project will "develop a web-enabled 'Reading Rainbow' for the home" and also create a "classroom version."
So, no, "Reading Rainbow" won't return to your television set, but will be developed into an interactive version on the Internet. (Even "Reading Rainbow" realizes they have to keep up with the times.)
The project offered an array of rewards, including a private dinner with Burton for a $3,500 donation.
While everyone has their wallets open, we thought we'd suggest a few more classic educational shows that we would love to see make a return!
Which ones would you love to see make a comeback???
