Iowa-born actor Ashton Kutcher has given back to his home state this week.
Kutcher donated money to support projects in 132 schools across the state.
Through the website DonorsChoose.org, he donated twice to one elementary school to help buy drums for one classroom learning about world music, and made a donation to buy materials to create a science, technology, engineering and math space in the school's library.
He donated funds to another school to help provide books for a literature group.
Actress Anna Kendrick, a native of Maine, also recently used DonorsChoose.org to fund 31 classroom projects in Maine.
Both celeb donations were part of the website's #BestSchoolDay initiative. According to a news release, the event is a "surprise philanthropic flash mob of more than 60 celebrities, business leaders and athletes who together are bringing to life the classroom dreams of teachers and students across America."
