"The Little Mermaid" is reportedly returning to theaters in a new movie -- but this time she won't be animated.
Director Sofia Coppola is rumored to be in talks to direct the live-action film, according to Hollywood Life.
Judging by Coppola's prior flicks ("Lost in Translation," "Marie Antoinette"), we're guessing her version will be closer to the Hans Christian Andersen story than the beloved Disney version. (In the original story, Ariel doesn't find true love in time and turns into sea foam. And she is never referred to as Ariel, just "the little mermaid.") But she just better have red hair, Coppola!
Since the casting directors in Hollywood are probably very busy, we thought we'd help them out and give the execs a few ideas on who to cast for each finned character (and the ones with two legs, too!).
