America tweeted for it and "Saturday Night Live" delivered.
Sasheer Zamata, the first black female cast member to join SNL since Maya Rudolph left six years ago, will make her debut Saturday as the newest SNL cast member.
The show received criticism last year for its lack of diversity among the cast members. At the time, the cast consisted of two black men, six white women, and eight white men.
Zamata has made a name for herself online with her sketch videos that she writes and stars in, including a web series called "Pursuit of Sexiness."
