Here's a riddle: What's always kind of the same, but never gets old?
The answer, of course, is military homecomings. This past weekend at the University of Georgia's football game, the family of a Georgia National Guard member got to experience their own special moment. After the first quarter, UGA alumni Dr. Steve Brown took the field to be honored for his work in agribusiness development training. What he and his family, all clad in UGA red, didn't know, was that their son, Spc. Robert Owens, had returned home early from a yearlong service in Afghanistan.
The rest is all tears and hugs and happiness, as usual -- but we wouldn't want it any other way.
Now that you may be a little misty, why not just go on a homecoming surprise video binge? Because really, what's more American than football, family, and soldiers coming home?
