Often called America's first female serial killer, Lavinia Fisher along with her husband, John, were suspected of killing several men. The pair owned a hotel in Charleston, South Carolina, called the Six Mile Wayfarer House -- which police reported had several dungeons and trap doors. The couple was convicted on robbery charges. Before she was sentenced to die by hanging, Lavinia Fisher reportedly told the crowd, "If you have a message you want to send to hell, give it to me -- I'll carry it." She then jumped off a scaffold, hanging herself.
