When an actress wins an Emmy, it usually means one thing: There's a gushing speech to follow. But actress Merritt Wever, took the audience by surprise Sunday night by delivering what just might be the shortest acceptance speech of all time.
Wever appeared flustered on stage, never cracking so much as a smile as she was handed the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a comedy series for her role in the show "Nurse Jackie." When she got to the microphone, she repeated "Thank you so much" several times, then excused herself from the stage, saying, "I gotta go... bye."

When asked backstage why her speech was so short, she told reporters that she wanted to thank a lot of people, but got scared on stage.
"I don't know … I'm scared because it was unexpected, so I don't know how I feel yet. I mean, I have therapy next week," she told reporters.
Wever also said she wished she had thanked co-star Edie Falco.
"Best speech ever," remarked show host Neil Patrick Harris when Wever was done.
