Mother always said, never show up empty-handed at someone’s house. She also said to have something ready to serve at your own house when someone comes over.
This is a good rule to keep in mind this Fourth of July. Chances are, you’re either going somewhere or welcoming someone in on Thursday, so having a few cocktails on hand will keep you in good graces. Having the specific cocktails below on hand will make you the star of the party.
Danielle Camerata, general manager of Whiskey Blue in Atlanta, put these recipes together just for you:
1.5 oz Don Julio Silver tequila
0.5 oz Aperol
0.5 oz agave nectar
0.5 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz grapefruit juice
Directions: Add all ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice, shake and strain over fresh ice into a highball glass. Top with champagne and garnish with a grapefruit slice.
Red, White & BOOM!
3 pieces muddled jalapeno (no seeds)
1.5 oz Casamigos Blanco tequila
1.5 oz Cointreau
1.5 oz simple syrup
1.5 oz fresh lime juice
Directions: Add the liquids to the muddled jalapenos, top with ice, and shake. Serve in a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with a jalapeno slice.
The Franklin Mint
2 oz Bulleit bourbon
1 oz water
1 tsp sugar
4 sprigs of fresh mint
Directions: Crush mint leaves in a highball glass and fill it with ice. Add the sugar, water and bourbon and stir until the glass frosts. Garnish with the mint sprig.
