Honestly, sometimes ignorance is bliss. We've all sat down to a special dinner at a steakhouse or wherever, and nearly keeled over at the mere sight of the nutrition facts lurking under the description of that luscious-looking bleu cheese steak and garlic potatoes. It's obviously a good thing to know (um, we'll have the salad instead, please?), but it doesn't make the numbers any less depressing.
Well, surprise! That awesome feeling of nutritional failure is coming to a Starbucks near you. In interest of health and moderation, Starbucks announced they will now be adding calorie counts to all of their menus nationwide. So no longer can you slurp that Venti Mocha Chip Frappuccino in willful ignorance!
The good news is, if you stay sensible, these numbers won't ruin your day. Even better, they may give you some insight into how you can get the same buzz you crave, with less calories and fat. Remember, you can always ask for:
-light drink mixes
-no whipped cream
-a smaller size (seriously, why is a small a tall?! Why has no one figured that out yet?)
So how does your favorite drink size up? We've collected some of the most popular drinks, along with their lighter counterparts. Happy sipping!
Oh, and we really want an opinion: Are you in favor of food establishments posting their calorie counts on menus? Or would you rather just not know? Comment or tell us on Facebook.
