If you haven't met Lentil, hold on to your heart. The little French bulldog puppy was born with a cleft palate, which makes it difficult for him to eat. However, it also gives him just the cutesy-wootsiest little puppy face one could ever imagine, so naturally Lentil has swiftly shot to Internet stardom.
Now, a happy, healthy growing boy, Lentil and his foster mom have partnered with the Children's Craniofacial Association to raise awareness of childhood cleft palates and other facial differences. Their message is simple: Everyone's smile is special!
As if that weren't enough to smash your heart into a million pieces, melt the pieces down and have them coagulate to form a new, bigger heart full of fresh love for humanity, Lentil's team has recently announced the mecca of Lentil-lovers: LENTIL FEST!
Yes, if you are in Philadelphia anytime soon, you can participate in all sorts of music events, food and fun to benefit all of Lentil's favorite organizations. There's the Children's Craniofacial Association, of course, but the beneficiaries will also include two animal rescues: Street Tails Animal Rescue, which was started by Lentil's foster mother, and the French Bulldog Rescue Network, which sponsors Lentil and placed him in his current foster home. Additionally, Lentil and his supporters are saving up for necessary surgery on Lentil's face. His foster mom has made it clear the procedure will just allow him to breathe and eat better -- nothing purely cosmetic will be done.
Lentil has a loving online community of more than 60,000 admirers on Facebook, and every day his foster mom posts information and new pictures and videos of everyone's favorite cleft palate pup. Go there, now. Your heart will thank you for it.
