"Weekend Squee" exists solely to fill your life with cute animals.
Do you need to look at something adorable and be reminded that there are indeed wonderful things in the world?
Here you go. It is a baby squirrel being hand-raised by a human and a couple of dogs.
Professional photographer Nick Radford found the tiny little thing near the entrance to a local hiking trail. "I thought he was dead," Radford told HLN. "He wasn't moving, even after I picked him up, and was really cold." Luckily, the creature was still alive. Radford bundled him up, took him home and put together a little habitat, including a heating pad and a snuggly woven ball.
This is pretty much a dream-life situation for a lot of people. Your own pet squirrel? That sounds awesome, at least until you have to learn how to take care of it.
"I turned to the Googleverse," Radford said. "I found some great instructions right away on what to do and what not to do." With some loving care, and the gentle attention of Radford's two dogs, Apple Moonbeam is thriving. Eventually, the little squirrel will have to leave the nest, but for now Apple Moonbeam is enjoying a moment of fame.
"[We're] just taking it a day at a time for now," Radford said. "I've been hearing that an open outdoor cage is a great way to gradually release him once he's ready."
Orrrrr...you could totally keep him and be one of those amazing people with trained pet squirrels.
Is that selfish? Maybe that's selfish. He's just so darn cute!
