The winners of the Google Glass contest are in! These are some of the first people who'll get to put on Google Glass.
The company chose 8,000 people who may have the privilege of paying $1,500 to be the first of their friends to wear the latest in geek chic.
The list is a little celeb heavy -- and having a ton of Twitter followers didn't seem to hurt either -- but there are plenty of regular folk on the list, too, including a grandmother who, as of this writing, has only nine Twitter followers.

Actor Neil Patrick Harris, Adam Savage from Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich are among the more recognizable names among the winners.
Stanford doctoral student Andrej Karpathy collected the data used to create this sample gallery. You can see his full list of all 4,238 people invited through Twitter to get Google Glass here (note: I found Andrej through theverge.com). Andrej's data comes only from Twitter, applications were also accepted through Google+.
