This past Saturday, Conan O'Brien crashed an Atlanta couple's wedding reception, proving love isn't true love until it is blessed by Coco himself.
Wes and Victoria-- Torre for short -- Hoffman were celebrating their freshly wedded selves at the Atlanta Four Seasons. The couple, who are musicians and artists (he is in a band called The Constellations, and she goes by Ziggy Moon), were floored by their surprise guest.
"He just walked up and introduced himself, and we were like, wow. He was a really, really nice guy," Wes said. "He was super personable, walking around and taking pictures with everybody."
It turns out, the little coup was arranged by an insider. Niki, a member of the wedding partywith some amazing networking skills, had been tweeting to O'Brien the entire day, urging him to attend the gathering and surprise the happy couple. O'Brien is in Atlanta for the week, taping for his show. How Niki got through to him on such short notice remains a mystery.
"That's just Niki," Torre said. "She knows everybody."
The wedding day started out as calmly as any other, with a small ceremony, a trolley and many fancy hats. "Our wedding celebration was all day long, because we wanted to keep it small and intimate," Torre said.
Intimacy. Conan O'Brien laughs at the word.
The TBS funnyman just seemed to stroll right into the thick of things, as casual as could be, his hair a beacon for the less-vertically-inclined.
"I'm 4'11," Torre explained. "Everyone towers above me, and all they saw was this red hair."
The crazy thing is, as random as Conan's appearance seemed, Torre says it almost fit in perfectly with their love story. "I met Wes at Bonnaroo in 2010," she said. Wes' band, The Constellations, were playing that year. Who else was headlining? None other than Conan himself.
"Full circle," Torre said with a smile.
After some pictures, some chats and some hair-related challenges, Conan was gone, leaving only a memory and some pretty awesome wedding pics.
"Just for the record, I'm not surprised that Conan showed up," said Wes. "Because our wedding ceremony and party was just that good."
