As the issue of gay marriage simmers in the Supreme Court, a battle cry is being heard far and wide across the country: "Pick a side!" If ever there were a time for people or companies or whoever to share their opinion, it's now, and from the din of these opinions, a few noteworthy voices are rising.
More and more, it seems, people from organizations and groups that don't typically align themselves with marriage equality are stepping out of the shadow of assumptions and joining the fight against the Defense of Marriage Act. Or, if they're not outright joining, they are offering new opinions on the subject.
Here are some of those high profile -- and in some cases, surprising -- proponents. And when we say "surprising," we don't necessarily mean because of who they are or what they have done, but rather because of the groups and interests they represent and public assumptions and opinions held of those groups.
