When it comes to the runway, all rules are off -- it's part of what makes fashion so much fun. In Tokyo, a unique fashion event called Tokyo Sweets Collection celebrates that concept on an annual basis. The event is all about the pairing of two very wonderful things: high-end fashion and exquisite desserts.
In its fifth annual fashion show on March 9 at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo, nine of Japan's best-known patisseries showed off their creations as wearable art. All the chefs have a chance to take to the stage during the event and talk about their creations and how they created them. And of course, the attendees can sample each of the sweets used (but unfortunately, they don't get to eat the actual hats).
It costs 8,000 yen ($83.22 U.S.) to attend, but the event is open to the public, so if you want to go next year, perhaps you should pencil in an off day for your diet and book a ticket. Delectable delights await! Check out the gallery to see some of the most memorable ensembles from past years.
