10 reasons West Virginia is pretty awesome

Sometimes the Mountain State gets a weird rap. But it's actually pretty great.

So this new MTV show "Buckwild" debuted recently, which follows the somewhat nondescript exploits of a bunch of teens in West Virginia. It is like "Jersey Shore," for the rural Appalachian set. Understandably, some folks in West Virginia are none too happy that the show reinforces unsavory boozing, fighting and mud-flinging stereotypes, despite the fact that by many accounts, the show's stars are pretty likeable.

But that's all beside the point. As equal-opportunity enthusiasts, we feel like it's time to counter-balance the "redneck" hype this show is re-igniting for the Mountain State. West Virginia has a lot of awesome things, OK? Here are just a few that we're pretty sure everyone can agree upon.
