As with every year, 2012 had its victories and its defeats. Here are our favorite feel-good stories.

Some of these people are heroes. Others have overcome impossible odds. All have stories that inspire us and help us look to do better, to love more and not take life for granted -- to remind us that in the best of times and the worst of times, there is always triumph.
