Three times the charm for Reese Witherspoon.
The Oscar-winning actress recently gave birth to her and her husband Jim Toth's first son, Tennessee James. She also has two children from a previous marriage to actor Ryan Phillippe.
Reese is not the first celebrity to name her baby after a location. Here are a few other star kids named after popular destinations:
Penelope Scotland Disick
Does Kourtney Kardashian have a deep love for the United Kingdom country? She named her daughter Penelope Scotland Disick. Maybe it’s a play on daddy Scott Disick’s first name since their son Mason’s middle name -- Dash -- is an ode to Kourtney’s moniker? Here are a few other star kids named after popular destinations:
Ireland Baldwin
In 1995, Kim Basinger and then-husband Alec Baldwin welcomed daughter Ireland Eliesse. Also known by the nickname Addie, the teen was famously at the center of her parents’ divorce battle back in 2002. Just last month, the 16-year-old was seen celebrating with her father at his wedding to Hilaria Thomas in New York.
Brooklyn Beckham
Although it was rumored that parents David and Victoria named their eldest son after the place he was conceived, Victoria shut down those reports in her autobiography saying that she just liked the name Brooke, but it was coincidentally also where she found out she was expecting. She wrote in her book, “I’d always liked it as a place -- it’s very multi-cultural, very grounded. And it was only afterwards that I realized how appropriate it was because it was in New York that I found out I was pregnant and where David came after the World Cup.”
Bronx Wentz
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz continued the tradition of naming babies after New York boroughs when they welcomed son Bronx on November 20, 2008. The now-divorced couple has always been mum on the meaning behind their son’s first name, and Wentz told Ryan Seacrest at the time of his birth that they wanted to keep it to themselves. “It’s kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is,” explained Wentz of the mystery surrounding the name. “People are stoked or pissed or whatever. And you’re like, you know what: I don’t think anyone has the real story.” Wentz did confirm though that Bronx’s middle name Mowgli was based off the character in the Disney movie “The Jungle Book.”
India Hemsworth
“Thor” actor Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa welcomed their first daughter a few months ago naming her India Rose. Hemsworth explained to E! News after her birth that her name was more about their tastes than the country -- “It was just a name we liked, I always kind of liked Indie or Indiana for a boy and she liked India… It just seemed to fit.”
Egypt Dean
When Alicia Keys and husband Swizz Beatz welcomed their first child, they bestowed him with the name of an African country. Egypt Dauod Dean was born on October 14, 2010, and reportedly got his name due to his singer mother falling in love with the nation and it's history when she performed there years ago.
