Missing 8-year-old Relisha Rudd has not been seen since March 1, police said Thursday as they conducted a search of a Washington, D.C. park that they described as a “recovery operation” in connection with her case.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy Lanier, Rudd was with Kahlil Malik Tatum, 51, when she was seen on March 1. Investigators have evidence that Tatum purchased 42-gallon contractor trash bags at a D.C. store on March 2 and was later seen in the area of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens for some period of time.
