Friday marks both the 33rd anniversary of 6-year-old Etan Patz’s disappearance and the 29th National Missing Children’s Day. Although an arrest was made Thursday in Patz’s case, he has not been found and hundreds of other children are still missing across the country.

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed May 25 to be National Missing Children’s Day with the intent to honor the nation’s commitment to finding missing children.

Newly released police reports are raising more questions in the search for missing 6-year-old Isabel Celis. The reports were provided to some news organizations, HLN is currently seeking its own copies.

ABC News reports that documents released Thursday by the Tucson Police Department reveal “apparent blood” was found on the floor of one of the bedrooms in her family’s home. According to HLN affiliate KOLD, the reports also show a white hat and shower curtain with “dark red-brown or brown stains” were removed from a car at the house.

Two missing Tennessee girls are safe, and the man accused of abducting them and killing their mother and older sister is dead, authorities confirmed Thursday night.

Special operations teams following a tip located Adam Mayes with 12-year-old Alexandria and 8-year-old Kyliyah Bain in a wooded area behind a church in Alpine, Mississippi around 6:50 pm Thursday, FBI special agent Aaron Ford told reporters at a press conference. Ford said Mayes shot himself in the head with a semi-automatic pistol when ordered to surrender. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Authorities are asking for the public’s help locating a vehicle that may be associated with the disappearance of California teen Sierra LaMar.

The Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office released a photo Monday of a car that they say closely resembles a red mid-1990s four-door Volkswagen Jetta with a black hood that they identified through witness interviews and review of surveillance videos. 15-year-old LaMar was last seen at her mother’s Morgan Hill home on March 16.

The parents of missing 6-year-old Isabel Celis begged for her return in their first live television interview Thursday, and they said they fear police may be wasting time focusing the investigation on them.

Becky Celis said on NBC’s “Today Show” that Isabel is a “girly girl” who loves to put on makeup and paint her nails, but she also likes playing outside in the dirt with her brothers. Becky and Sergio Celis told police that Isabel vanished from her bedroom in their Tucson home after she was put to sleep around 11:00 p.m. on April 20. She was gone when Sergio went to wake her the next morning.

Joran van der Sloot could be extradited from Peru to the United States to face extortion charges within months, his attorney told CNN Monday. According to Maximo Altez, the US has taken the first step in the process and he expects a formal request for extradition soon. Altez said that if van der Sloot is convicted in federal court, he would likely return to Peru to serve the rest of his 28-year prison sentence for murder there and then come back to the US to serve whatever sentence is ordered here. A man held in connection with the disappearance of an Alaska teen has been indicted on two new charges: kidnapping resulting in death and receipt and possession of ransom money. Federal court documents filed Wednesday shed some light on what authorities believe happened to 18-year-old Samantha Koenig on the night February 1.

34-year-old Israel Keyes is accused of abducting Koenig from the coffee hut where she worked, killing her and then using her cell phone to demand ransom money, according to the indictment. Koenig’s body was found in Matanuska Lake on April 2.

Authorities reportedly searched a San Diego-area canyon Monday for Brittany Killgore, a missing Marine wife from Fallbrook who they fear could be in danger.

Killgore, 22, was last seen Friday night and she was believed to have been with Louis Ray Perez, a 45-year-old Marine based at Camp Pendleton, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Perez is currently being held on $500,000 bail for an unrelated charge of possession of a stolen assault rifle, but investigators told KGTV he has not been forthcoming with information about what happened to Killgore.
