 Farmland pork products are on sale at a supermarket on May 30, 2013 in Pico Rivera, California. Farmland is a brand owned by Smithfield Foods Inc, which is the biggest pork producer in the world. A Chinese company based in Hong Kong, Shuanghui International Holdings Ltd. has agreed to buy Smithfield Foods Inc. for approximately $4.72 billion.

The 4x100 relay at the 2013 Warrior Games featured one of the most dramatic finishes of the entire Games.  The Marine team went in as the undisputed champs, winning each of the three previous years.  But the Army team was determined and they had a secret weapon as their anchor, Sgt. Ryan McIntosh. 

McIntosh lost his right leg in 2010 when an IED exploded in Afgahnistan, just seven months after he joined the Army.  Six weeks later, he already had his first prosthetic and began running soon after.  Doctors even took his prosthetic leg from him at one point because he was working out too much.

Two people on board and another person in the apartment were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a small plane crashed through the roof of an apartment building in Herndon, Virginia.    

Sources tell affiliate WJLA that the plane ran out of fuel in mid-air.

An asteroid the size of the Golden Gate Bridge will fly by Earth today.

NASA says the closest the big rock called ‘1998 QE2,’ will come to our planet is over three and a half million miles away, about 15 times farther than the moon.

Arvind Mahankali, a 13-year-old eighth-grader from Bayside Hills, New York, won the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday, correctly spelling the word "knaidel."

Arvind Mahankali correctly spelled "knaidel" (pronounced kuh-NAY-del) to win in his fourth appearance at the bee.

Yanira Maldonado, an Arizona mom, was released from a Mexican jail late Thursday, May 30, 2013. She had been arrested on allegations she tried to smuggle 12 pounds of marijuana under a bus seat. Security footage of Maldonado boarding a bus refutes the claims she was carrying the drugs.
