Morning Express with Robin Meade

Today he takes on two titles that are definitely not for the whole family.

Editor's Note: More than 200 wounded servicemen and women descended on Colorado Springs in May to participate in the third annual Warrior Games. Each branch of the military sent a team of inspiring athletes to vie for gold and bragging rights. But every athlete also has an incredible story of perseverance. HLN's Robin Meade sat down with five of them.

Army Corporal Brian Miller
Brian Miller didn’t take the usual path to the military. After a career as a traffic signal technician, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard at the age of 40.  He was the main gunner on a combat vehicle in Iraq in 2009 when his unit came under attack. An explosive shattered his left leg and after 14 surgeries, he was forced to amputate the leg above the knee. He’s still on active duty.

Air Force Tech Sgt. Israel Del Toro says there was a moment after he was severely injured in an IED attack in Afghanistan in 2005 that he wished he had died. 

Suffering from third degree burns over 80% of his body, he saw his face for the first time in the mirror and broke down. He was afraid that his son, who was just three years old at the time, would be afraid of him. DT (as his friends call him) credits his wife and his physical therapist for convincing him that all his son wanted was a father. And they were right.

Police in Brockton, Massachusetts, say a man was trying to break in to a Rent-A-Center when he got stuck trying to crawl under a roll-up metal door. His head got caught (as Bob Van Dillen points out) like a mouse going after a hunk of cheese in a trap.

It was about NINE HOURS till the the owner of the store found the would-be burglar wedged between the floor and the door.  A manager called cops, and took pictures and even video with his cell phone!
