Kathleen Mason-Morton says she prescribed the diet drug HCG to Vashti Seacat.  But she claims that the items shown in court were not what she prescribed. Mason-Morton says the drugs shown in court were found in Brett’s tackle box and that they could have been used by Brett to come off of testosterone.  The prosecution also believes that Brett Seacat could have been using this to come off of steroids.

Prosecution in Seacat trial: Use common sense

The jury is now deciding Brett Seacat’s fate.  Seacat is a former sheriff’s deputy and CSI expert that is now charged with the murder of his estranged wife.  Seacat is accused of shooting his wife, Vashti, while she slept and setting his house on fire. Seacat claims his wife was depressed and she killed herself.

In closing arguments, the prosecution went through the forensic evidence in the case stressing to the jury that the evidence backed up their version of what happened that night. The prosecutor told the jury to use common sense while deliberating.

Vashti’s former friend, Robyn Windsor tells Jane Velez-Mitchell that there is “no way she would have killed herself.”  Robyn went to college with Vashti and the two remained friends. Robyn last saw her a few months before Vashti’s death.

Now, Vashti’s estranged husband, Brett Seacat is on trial accused of killing Vashti and trying to make it look like a suicide.  Brett says Vashti was depressed and she set her home on fire and shot herself.

Vashti Seacat died a few days after filing divorce papers. Prosecutors say her estranged husband, former cop and CSI instructor Brett Seacat, shot and killed Vashti then set the house on fire and forged a suicide note.  Brett claims his wife started the fire herself before committing suicide.
