U.S. Special Forces vets battle poachers

U.S. Special Forces vets battle poachers

A deadly battle is being fought in South Africa. Each year nearly 700 rhinos are killed for their valuable horns. These poachers are ruthless, killing more than 100 park rangers who dared to get in their way.

Now there is new hope for the rhinos and you might be surprised to find out who it is: Four U.S. Special forces vets are fighting back against the poachers and fighting to save the rhinos. "Oz" is a green beret and one of the stars of the brand new animal planet series "Battleground: Rhino Wars".  He tells Jane Velez-Mitchell how he got involved in fighting for rhinos and what he saw in South Africa.

Like puppies at Christmas, rabbits at Easter make for popular gifts. But the Georgia House Rabbit Society (GHRS) is reaching out to parents to remind them that, though rabbits are small and cute and furry, they require just as much attention and effort as larger pets.

"Rabbits are a very highly misunderstood pet," Jennifer Cray, a volunteer for the GHRS, said in a release. "And there is still a lot of misinformation about them." Sure, they may not bark like the yappy Chihuahua your tween girl wants, but they can be aggressive, easy to startle and, if not properly trained, quite smelly.

Reports claim that Jodi Arias and other inmates only eat 2 meals a day and sometimes those meals are more than 12 hours apart.  A friend of the Arias family says that Jodi Arias is woken up in the middle of the night.  Wednesday Jodi Arias brought the trial to a halt complaining of migraines.  Jane Velez-Mitchell speaks to Sgt. Brandon Jones from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The defense once again puts the victim, Travis Alexander, on trial. This time the defense expert witness on domestic violence claimed that Jodi was warned by friends of Travis to stay away from him. Does the jury believe her testimony? Is it enough to provide reasonable doubt?

Jane & expert examine Travis' 29 stab wounds

Jodi Arias claims that the entire altercation with Travis took only 62 seconds.  That would mean that she managed to shoot him and stab him 29 times in just about a minute.  Is that possible?  Jane Velez-Mitchell headed to John Jay College of Criminal Justice to ask an expert about the extensive damage Jodi inflicted on Travis's body.  Dr. Warunek demonstrated how Jodi caused injury to nearly every part of Travis's body.  And it seems like it would have been impossible for Jodi to do that much damage so quickly.  Does that mean her entire story is a lie?

Dr. Kevin Horn, the medical examiner who performed Travis Alexander's autopsy, believes that Jodi Arias is lying when she claimed the first wound she inflicted on Travis was the gunshot. Dr. Horn believes that Jodi stabbed Travis in the chest, shoving a knife 3.5 inches deep into his body, just next to his heart, before proceeding to stab him 28 more times and shooting him in the head.
