Stranded in Hoboken

Jordan Hutt is stranded inside his apartment in Hoboken, New Jersey.  He says some areas in Hoboken are sitting under 5 feet of water. Officials say there could be as much as 500 million gallons of dirty water flooding the streets of Hoboken.  They also warn of numerous power lines down in the floodwaters creating a very dangerous situation.

Seaside Heights resident: "complete destruction"

Keith Paul from Seaside Heights, New Jersey tells Jane Velez-Mitchell that “it is complete destruction” there. He says the ocean and the bay met over the barrier island where Seaside Heights was.  Paul says some houses were just swept into the ocean.

Residents 'plucked from rooftops'

Rescue teams are going door-to-door in some New Jersey towns as floodwaters remain high.  A levee burst in New Jersey caused severe flooding in areas that were not under evacuation orders. 

Brian Todd reports that people are being rescued and in some cases, they are “plucked from the rooftops."

West Virginia is seeing snow from Superstorm Sandy.

Sandy brings snow to Appalachians

Superstorm Sandy is hammering the East Coast with winds, rain and flooding, but the storm is bringing snow to the Appalachian region. Reed Timmer, the star of Discovery Channel's Storm Chaser, spoke to Jane from West Virginia.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says his biggest concerns are extended flooding and extensive power outages in New York City and the surrounding area.

Superstorm Sandy made landfall Monday evening, but officials believe the effects will be felt for days.  Widespread flooding and power outages are already occurring.

Hundreds of people were forced to flee 15 Manhattan high-rises because a construction crane has torn and is treacherously dangling a thousand feet over Manhattan.

It is one of the most luxurious and expensive apartment buildings in New York City. One apartment just sold for $90 Million.  Jane Velez-Mitchell spoke to Rita Cosby who was a witness to the whole thing.

Keep your pets safe during Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy is already causing widespread flooding and damage with high winds along the East Coast. With landfall expected to hit Monday evening, there are already thousands without power and hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated.

While you protect yourself and your family, how do you protect your pets? The good news is that many shelters will allow your pets in, but you will most likely need to provide anything the animal needs, such as food. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said shelters have already accepted more than 70 pets.

Lutfi is suing Spears’ parents for defamation. When Lutfi took the stand, he made all sorts of claims including alleged drug abuse by Britney and physical abuse from Spears’ father.

Did man intentionally run over his girlfriend?

Investigators believe 20-year-old Shelby Harmon was killed when her boyfriend hit her with his truck knocking her into traffic early on Saturday, October 20th. According to HLN affiliate WLBT, Harmon was walking on the side of the highway when her boyfriend, Rodney Shelton Fulgham, hit her with his pickup truck. She was pushed into oncoming traffic then run over by at least 2 other cars.

At this time no charges have been filed against Fulgham or anyone else but the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is still working on the case and examining evidence. HLN has not been able to reach Fulgham or an attorney for comment.
