Relationships: Why can't some people tolerate closeness?
On Thursday night, HLN’s Dr. Drew took a few moments to address why some people can have such difficulty in personal relationships.
“When people have been abandoned, neglected, or abused in their childhood, it's very difficult to tolerate closeness,” he explained. ‘The frame of intimacy -- just being close to another person -- being loved by another person is extremely threatening. It is extremely uncomfortable. They can't tolerate the vulnerability, so they will sabotage it.”
