April 16, San Jose, California
Giovanni Hernandez, 9 months old.
Giovanni’s father forgot to drop him off at the babysitter in the morning and accidentally left his son in the car while he went to work, according to investigators.
April 22, North Richland Hills, Texas
Aurora Hollingsworth, 17 months old.
Aurora was found unresponsive in the backseat by another child in the car. Police believe she may have been left in the vehicle for a long time and suffered a heat-related death.
April 29, Bakersfield, California
Fernando Velasquez, 4. Fernando wandered into a family car outside his home and became trapped inside. He was responsive when found by his grandparents, but passed away four days later while in the hospital.
May 8, Hartsville, South Carolina
Sophia Goyeneche, 13 months old.
The Darlington County Coroner's Office says Sophia died from hyperthermia after her father left her inside his car outside of where he works.
May 12, Clarkston, Georgia
Julius Meh, 2.
The little girl became trapped inside her mother’s car after the door had been left open.
May 25, Princeton, Illinois
Jeremiah A. Kennedy, 13 months old.
Jeremiah’s parents rushed him to the hospital after he had been left in a car for about an hour-and-a-half, according to the Florence County Sheriff's Office. He died four days later from the effects of hyperthermia.
May 25, Florence, South Carolina
Logan Jacobs, 5.
The kindergartner told his dad he was going to play on his tablet device and went inside the family’s car, while his father assumed Logan was still in the house. He was found about two hours later in the car and pronounced dead at the hospital.
June 4, Dolgeville, New York
Sophia Lea Marie Lyon, 15 months old.
Sophia was still in her father’s car when he dropped it off at her grandfather’s home and switched vehicles. She was discovered by her grandfather about seven hours later, according to state police.
June 8, Sarasota, Florida
Alejandra Hernandez, 2.
Sarasota police say Alejandra’s father, Uriel, left her in his car when he ran into his home to get a phone charger, but fell asleep. By the time he went back to his car five hours later, she had died.
June 10, Flint, Texas
Bella Lindstrom, 4.
Both Bella and her sister Zoey became locked inside their dad’s pickup truck while he thought they were still sleeping in the house. Zoey, 3, was able to be revived, but her big sister passed away.
June 12, Ardmore, Oklahoma
Mason Ryan Wood, 2 months old.
Mason was left inside a car outside her home for more than seven hours. Investigators say a family member was supposed to be taking care of her.
June 16, Rockledge, Florida
Anna Marie Lillie, 9 months old.
Steven Darnell Lillie left his little girl in her car seat for about four hours after forgetting to drop her off at her grandmother’s before going to work. The Rockledge Police Department says he called 911 after finding Anna unresponsive in the backseat.
June 18, Cobb County, Georgia
Cooper Harris, 22 months old.
Cooper’s father, Justin, left the little boy strapped inside his parked SUV for seven hours while he was at work. Harris says he didn’t notice Cooper until he was driving home, by which time the child was already dead.
July 3, Lancaster, South Carolina
Logan Cox, 3.
Logan became trapped inside a family car after walking out of his home with his dog while his mother slept. After relatives found him, he was rushed to a hospital, but passed away four days later.
July 6, East El Paso, Texas
Hailey Harper, 2.
The little girl was found unresponsive inside a car and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
July 7, Ridgefield, Connecticut
Benjamin Seitz 15 months old.
The child was left inside a hot car for “an extended period of time,” according to Ridgefield police. They say Benjamin's dad was supposed to drop him off at daycare, but left him in his car while he was at work.
July 11, Port Huron, Michigan
Derrick Holman, 5. Derrick was found inside a neighbor’s car several hours after he was reported missing and an Amber Alert was issued to help find him. Police believe the boy, who had Down’s Syndrome and was non-verbal, left his home and entered the neighbor’s unlocked vehicle.
July 24, Wichita, Kansas
Kadillak Poe Jones, 10-months-old. Kadillak’s foster father told police he had picked up the girl – whom he and his partner were in the process of adopting – from a babysitter and then forgot to remove her from the car. Investigators say she was trapped inside the vehicle for about two-and-a-half hours.
July 27, Statesville, North Carolina
Baby boy, 4-weeks-old. The child was taken to the hospital by his mother after having been left inside a car for two hours. He was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, but later died. The Statesville Police Department has charged parents Sherrie Tiesha Clay and Shakee Duquan Robinson with involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse.
July 30, Sylmar, California
Vincent Quintana, 3. The little boy accidentally became trapped inside a car while playing. He was in cardiac arrest when firefighters arrived and passed away at the hospital. A Los Angeles Police Department officer called Vincent’s death “a tragic accident.”
August 1, Hurricane, Utah
Skyah Suwyn, 11-months-old. Hurricane City Police said that Skyah was left inside her car "for a substantial period of time with the vehicle not running" after her mother went inside the house and thought she’d put her baby down for a nap. Skyah was rushed by helicopter to a hospital , but passed away soon after.
