Maryland authorities are continuing to investigate after a woman was allegedly found pushing her dead toddler in a park swing.
On May 22, Charles County officers were dispatched to Wills Memorial Park in reference to a woman who had been pushing a toddler in a swing for an unusually long period of time, officials said.
The woman and child had possibly been at the park since the day before, police said in a news release.
Upon arrival, the officers found the woman pushing a 3-year-old male in a swing at the playground and immediately noticed the toddler was deceased, according to the press release.
There were no obvious signs of trauma, authorities said.
The toddler was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy was performed.
The cause and manner of his death remains under investigation.
The child’s 24-year-old mother was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
No charges have been filed.
