What makes The Root Cafe special: When they say the food is locally sourced, they mean it. "We feel really strongly about local as a lifestyle," says co-owner Jack Sundell. "We don't want people to think it's just local food, but delicious, too." They also focus on activities to bring the community of Little Rock together.
Inspiration for The Root Cafe: Jack's time observing the cafe culture while serving the Peace Corps in Morocco, and Corri growing up on a farm in Arkansas.
The owner recommends you order: The cheeseburger (with homemade mayo). But if you want tomatoes on your locally made bun, make sure to stop by while they're in season.
How the MBAs can help:"I think of owning a business as a never-ending to do list. You don't ever finish," says Jack. He thinks the MBAswill bring a fresh perspective. "We don't want this to be an easy week. We want to learn, we want to grow." As parents to 1-year-old twins, easy isn't on their to-do list.
