PSA: Thor, the Norse god of Asgard, is now a woman ... *drops hammer*
That's basically what Marvel did Tuesday in a ground-breaking announcement. The comics giant unveiled a gender switch for one of its most heralded superheroes.
“The inscription on Thor's hammer reads ‘Whosoever holds this hammer, if HE be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.’ Well it's time to update that inscription,” Marvel editor Wil Moss says in a story on Marvel.com. The brand says the new Thor is in tradition of the brand's "proud tradition of strong female characters."
The hashtag #SheisWorthy quickly became a thing Tuesday on Twitter, as users showed their support.

The newest change in Asgard joins one that Marvel's movie division made in recent years, when it cast Idris Elba as a Norse god, a move many longtime Thor fans criticized.
The past several days have seen some major rumblings on the gender front in comics. DC Comics last week unveiled a new Batgirl that gets a completely new makeover and storyline.
HLN readers, what do you think? Do you like the new Thor?
