Even if you're not that into soccer/football, you have to admit, World Cup ads are pretty inspiring. Now that the 2014 tournament has kicked off in Brazil, here's a look back at some of the most memorable.
1998: Mastercard, 'Price to Paris'
Rarely has Mastercard's "Priceless" bit been more applicable than for a worldwide soccer fandom. Is it over the top? Perhaps. Is it deserved? Probably.
2002: Nike, 'Knockout'
Continuing the no-fail tradition of gathering a bunch of soccer stars and letting them look awesome on camera. Add some music and an Instagram filter, and you've got commercial gold.
2006: ESPN, 'Anthem'
The main ESPN commercial for 2006 sums it up with the opening line: "It's a simple thing. Just a ball, and a goal."
2006: Adidas, Jose+10
Picking teams becomes a LOT more fun when you get to choose from the world's best soccer players. Very appropriate.
2010: ESPN, 'United'
Four years later, ESPN did it again. It's basically the same message, but that doesn't diminish the impact at all.
2010: Coca-Cola, 'Celebration'
A lot of World Cup ads aim for the epic, but this Coke ad just aims for fun.
2010: Puma, 'Love Equals Football'
Puma celebrates the spirit of Africa and the 2010 Cup's host country, South Africa. Great music, too.
2010: Nike, 'Write the Future'
What's it like to be a soccer fan in the viral age? Nike's got it covered.
2014: Nike, 'The Last Game'
You want epic? How about a 5-minute beautifully animated short featuring soccer's superstars against computerized clones? Yep, it's pretty epic.
2014: McDonald's, 'Gol'
Sure, superstars are great, McDonald's pulls in the everyman with people from around the world doing amazing trick shots.
2014: Beats by Dre, 'Game Before the Game'
If this doesn't get you pumped up for whatever you have to do today, we don't know how to help you.
