Comedian Tracy Morgan is still in critical but stable condition Tuesday following a weekend crash that killed a fellow passenger and injured several others. Despite his worrisome condition, Morgan's family and friends are asking the public to stop "speculating" about his health, most notably, dismissing the rumor that the actor may lose his leg.
"Rumors about amputating his leg are completely fabricated," Morgan's publicist Lewis Kay said in a statement Monday on behalf of Morgan's fiancee, Megan Wollover.
The crash occurred early Saturday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike when a tractor-trailer struck a limo bus carrying Morgan and others. Comedian James McNair, a close friend of Morgan, was killed. The truck driver, Kevin Roper, has been charged with vehicular homicide and a criminal complaint alleges Roper had been awake for more than 24 hours prior to the crash.
Kay said Morgan suffered a broken leg, nose, and ribs, and has undergone at least one surgery.
"This recovery will be arduous and we hope that you can be patient during this difficult," Kay said in the statement.
