As if Instagramming your delicious dinner at that fancy new restaurant doesn’t already take forever and a half, it may now take even longer. Yep, Instagramjust rolled out new editing options to occupy all (not just a good chunk of) of your free time.
Technically, this is good news: The updated app features a lot more controls for editing your photos, from brightness to saturation to sharpness. And it is certainly fun to play around with the new settings.
The only downside (for you, not for Instagram) is how much more time you’ll be spending using the app.
Instagram didn’t add any new filters -- just new editing tools. See the three little tool icons above the existing filters in the GIF below? Let’s take you through them:
By tapping a filter a twice, you can adjust how much of that filter you want to apply to your photo. This is also where you can add or remove a border around your image.
By clicking on the tool wrench, you can level the photo, adjust its brightness, contrast, warmth, saturation, highlights and shadows, among a couple of other options.
Now if you hold your finger on the photo, you can see all the changes you applied to it and see the before and after.
What do you think of the changes to Instagram? Which of its new features do you like the best?
