The 2012 hit song "Gangnam Style" hit a new milestone on YouTube late Friday, becoming the first video ever to hit two billion views. Take a bow, Psy!
While the K-pop star is still leading the troupe, there are quite a few other videos that have racked up views on YouTube. Here are the ones that have the most:
8. Shakira -- Waka Waka ('This time for Africa')
Take a major singer, add some cultural pride and a great sports theme, and you just might have a hit. "Waka Waka" was the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and clearly it resonated with people. Plus, it kind of just makes you want to shake your butt.
7. Psy -- 'Gentleman'
Psy has admitted that he was very nervous about "Gentleman," since it was the follow-up to "Gangnam Style," and that it wasn't really his style. Apparently, his fans didn't mind, as it's still in the top eight. He's also the only artist to have two entries hit such high numbers, so he must be doing something right.
6. LMFAO -- 'Party Rock Anthem' ft. Lauren Bennett and GoonRock
With a video that opens up with its stars in the aftermath of a zombie invasion, LMFAO was the ultimate party song when it came out in 2011. It might not be as high up on this list as it used to be, but it's still fabulous to dance to.
5. Eminem -- 'Love the Way You' Lie ft. Rihanna
If you had to guess that Eminem had a video in the top eight, you might assume that it would be "The Real Slim Shady." But his duet with Rihanna from 2010 apparently resonated with YouTube users more, telling the story of a couple locked in a violent relationship.
4. Charlie bit my finger -- again!
This is the only video on the list that isn't from a musician! Two young brothers goofing off together results in Internet gold -- and a view count that keeps on climbing. Admittedly, it's pretty adorbs.
3. Jennifer Lopez -- 'On The Floor' ft. Pitbull
The third duet of four on the list makes us think that if you want to get people to watch your video, you need to pair up with someone. J.Lo dons her showiest leotard for this dance song, which has probably been played in every major club in America by now.
2. Justin Bieber -- 'Baby' ft. Ludacris
Despite Bieber's immense popularity now, one of his older songs was the one to crack this list. Released in 2010, it's the only video here to have more dislikes than likes (3,965,304 thumbs down versus 2,365,523 thumbs up). It was the No. 1 video until November 2012, when "Gangnam Style" took over the throne.
1. Psy -- 'Gangnam Style'
The opening of "Gangnam Style" shows Psy lounging under an umbrella, which is what one might imagine he's doing at at the top while he enjoys his stardom. With more than 1 million more views than "Baby," Psy has not only achieved a record-breaking milestone, but also pushed Korean music further into the spotlight than ever before. Here's hoping that English album is still coming soon!
