The Internet is still buzzing over the alleged Jay Z and Solange elevator video. Many still question the cause of the fight, speculating everything from Jay Z’s flirting to Solange’s intoxication. We may never know, but Jay Z, his wife Beyonce and Solange referred CNN to a statement they previously gave to the Associated Press.
The statement reads, “As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.”
“Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family,” continues the statement.
“The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

The alleged video was recorded off a security camera at The Standard Hotel in New York City. Brian Phillips, a representative for The Standard Hotel told CNN, “The Standard has identified the individual responsible for breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video released by TMZ. The Standard has already terminated the individual and will now be pursuing all available civil and criminal remedies.”
Regarding the video’s release, a source told the New York Post, “This was being shopped for five days to the highest bidder,” and confirmed it was sold for $250,000.
Dr. Drew talked to TMZ’s Dax Holt personally, and Holt stressed that price tag was absolutely ridiculous. The TMZ reporter even tweeted, “Laughing while reading reports that we paid 250k for the Solange/Jay Z video. I got the video myself. This is HILARIOUSLY INACCURATE! #TMZ.”
