Mom's Instagram shut down over breastfeeding?!?

A Canadian mom's Instagram account is back up and running after she claimed it was shut down temporarily over Mother's Day weekend because other users complained about her breastfeeding photo.

"I posted it because my daughter is 20-months-old, so she's weaning right now," Heather Bays told CNN network partner CTV. "These days are very sentimental."

Bays said she received the notice about her account's suspension after she "ticked off" a commenter who called the photo "not cool." The mom said her account's 2,000 photos not only document her personal life, but also her work as a professional photographer.

"I'm super, super heartbroken and I'm raging angry because that was three years of my motherhood that I documented for myself, along with my business," Bays told CTV on Monday, before her account was reinstated.

Bays took to her Facebook page to blast Instagram and ask other moms to support her #SaveHeatherBays campaign. She even started a new @save_heatherbays Instagram account to raise awareness about her other account's suspension.

On Tuesday, Bays told her Facebook followers that her account had been reinstated.

"This certainly would not be happening without your help!!" she posted. "The only reason they contacted me and are restoring my account is because of the publicity this got. I seriously can not thank you enough!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!"

A spokesperson for Instagram released the following statement to HLN: "Breastfeeding photos are allowed on Instagram, although those that also contain nudity are not. Accounts may be temporarily disabled by our automated systems, but are quickly restored upon further review. We realize this might cause a temporary inconvenience, but it is an important safeguard for our community."

The photo-sharing company says specifically on its site that "photos that show a fully exposed breast where the child isn't actively engaged in nursing aren't following our Community Guidelines."

Bays' photo, which you can see below, doesn't appear to break those rules. She said that when she asked Instagram to explain the reasoning behind her account's suspension that she was told it was not about breastfeeding and that it "was confidential information."

Bays also said that several photos of her children in diapers have since been removed from her account because they show children's naked torsos and can be classified as child pornography.
