Everyone wants to bring the perfect date to the prom, but one high school football player shot for the date of his dreams -- and hit the mark.
Crosby High School football player Mike Ramirez decided that he wanted to take a Houston Texans cheerleader to prom. Earlier in the year, he sent Caitlyn (last name withheld per Texans policy) a direct message on Twitter.
"If I get 10,000 retweets will you go to prom with me (insert smiley face.) you will get asked in a cute way!," the message read.
Caitlyn replied "Of course I will." And from then on, Ramirez was on fire. Twenty-seven hours later, he had achieved well over his goal of 10,000 retweets. But more importantly, he had a date.
Caitlyn told CNN affiliate KHOU that she was flooded with text messages immediately after the tweet hit 10,000 retweets, saying "You're going to prom!" Soon after, she was contacted by radio stations and media outlets galore, all wanting to hear about the details.
"I get to take a limo this time," she said. "I drove my own car last time I went to prom."
The couple met for the first time in person Saturday and exchanged a hug.
Before hitting the prom, Ramirez got to have dinner with the Texans cheerleaders as well, which looks like it was quite the thrill for the young football player.
A night to remember, indeed!
