Uh-oh, James Franco's at it again on Instagram

After taking down a nearly naked photo of himself he posted Thursday on his Instagram feed, fans are starting to wonder what is going on with James Franco.

Franco's Instagram summary says "LOVE TO THE TWEET GENERATION," and he clearly means it. All the proof you need is on his Instagram account, which typically features several selfies a day, sometimes in excess. He even wrote in a New York Times editorial that he was "addicted to them."

This sounds like a dream come true for fans of the handsome actor, but the problem is that Franco's Instagram has gotten progressively weirder. Is he being self-promotional? Tongue-in-cheek? Just plain odd?

Last month, Franco was accused of hitting on a teenager girl over Instagram. On "Live with Kelly and Michael," Franco admitted he was flirting and said he was "embarrassed."

At first, we thought Franco was just really savvy with memes, which is actually pretty funny.

Next, Franco took a selfie of himself doing "selfies paintings." Meta! But hey, all for the love of art and all that. We're not really in weird territory yet.

Uh, OK, James, your head on the bodies of three women is a little weird. It's not bringing sexy back. It may be taking it away, in fact.

You looking exhausted and humming like a madman while you massage your own head also is not so sexy. Let's keep that to ourselves in the future, OK?

The point of selfies is to look cute in them, James. Not like you haven't slept in four days.

OK, this is starting to get really weird. The caption says "BREAKFAST IN BED MISSED YOU." Who are you talking to? All of us? Why do you look so depressed?

Which leads us to last Thursday's offering. (We've edited this to preserve your decency).

We think actress Alyssa Milano summed it up best after seeing the half-naked selfie from Thursday.
