Heroes, helpers comfort tornado victims

A brutal storm system has taken the lives of at least 35 people in the central and southern U.S., but victims and neighbors are comforting each other with kindness. Here are some of the amazing moments of humanity:

"Lord, you're going to take care of this child. I know you are."

Nick Naylor, a resident of Mayflower, Arkansas, doesn't have a lot of experience in pulling people from rubble. But that's exactly what he did after tornadoes destroyed parts of his town.

The Alabama student who died protecting his girlfriend

The University of Alabama has made the sad confirmation that one of their own students was lost in the storms. John Servati was a swimmer at the university, and was killed when a retention wall in the house he was hiding in gave way. Reports say Servati was taking cover with his girlfriend and died while trying to protect her as the walls caved in.

Fundraisers, donations and random acts of kindness:

While on assignment, a local reporter found a family photo in the wreckage of a house. She returned the photo to a member of the family and was met with tears.
