Meet Molly: How a YouTube star is born

Meet Molly: How a YouTube star is born

High school senior Molly Kate Kestner has achieved internet fame nearly overnight after posting a video of herself singing an original song to Facebook.

What did she do to earn over 121,000 shares since she posted the video on April 20? Well, see for yourself.

A bone-chilling performance, indeed. According to Kestner's note on the post, she had been saving this one for a while.

"Okay....So this is probably my favorite song I've ever written. I wrote it a year ago but I never posted it because I wanted to save it for my senior solo, but now that's I am FINALLY sharing it with the world," Kestner wrote. "It's called 'His Daughter' and it is a story. So I hope you are inspired as I was when I wrote this. Happy Easter:)"

After seeing the response to the video, Kestner set up her own Facebook page for herself as a musician, which earned 13,570 likes in just 48 hours.

It's good timing for Kestner, too. She was just selected as Austin's Distinguished Young Woman of Minnesota for 2014. This scholarship program promotes talent and leadership in young women, which Kestner clearly has in spades.
