High-five! Redditor totally predicted the HIMYM finale

With nine seasons, countless girlfriends and endless catchphrases, there were a lot of directions the final episode of "How I Met Your Mother" could have gone.

One fan of the long-running CBS sitcom got it right.

Almost a month ago -- on March 6, to be exact -- Redditor Arguss predicted the ending. (Granted this was posted three days after the episode aired in which the show heavily hinted that the mom might be dying.)

"This reminds me of the real purpose behind this pic: Marshall being adamant that Robin & Ted are going to end up together," Arguss wrote on a discussion thread in the HIMYM sub-reddit.

"Theory: Robin and Barney get married. They later divorce. Ted and the mother obviously marry. She dies of <x>, a little ways down the road, Ted marries Robin, the one who got away."

Arguss got it right all the way down to the dying of "<x>" part... the show never reveals what exactly she dies of.

Fans around the Internet have mixed feelings on the finale. Some are upset the titular character didn't make it to the end of the show. While others, including Arguss, are glad that Robin and Ted finally got together.

"...damnit, I just want Ted & Robin to be a thing!" Arguss ended the prophetic post.
