Jared Leto once again made his support for Ukraine known during a performance with his band, 30 Seconds to Mars, in Kiev on Wednesday.

“I understand that other bands have canceled their shows, but there was no f***ing way that 30 Seconds to Mars wasn’t going to be here, in this beautiful city, in this great country, here tonight to share this with you all,” the singer announced on stage, before the song “The Kill.”

Leto then dedicated the song “to all the true believers” and asked the audience to sing along with him “so loud, the rest of the world hears all of us and wish they were here, celebrating freedom and love and peace with us in Ukraine tonight.”

During a different song, “Do or Die,” Leto held up the Ukrainian flag and waved it around on stage in front of a thrilled audience.

This isn’t the first time the singer-actor has publicly expressed his support for the Ukrainian people. Leto mentioned battered countries Ukraine and Venezuela in his Academy Award acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, practically dedicating his golden statue to the people who “struggle to make dreams happen, to live the impossible.”

Leto also mentioned his then-upcoming Ukrainian concert during his backstage interview after the awards ceremony, saying it was important for him to shine a light on “social unrests” around the world (watch it here from 4:32 to 6:08).

Leto has also been actively promoting his stance on social media, posting the full text of his Oscars acceptance speech on Facebook, sharing photos on Instagram and retweeting his supporters.

Ukraine has been on the brink of civil war due to its tensions with Russia for the last several months.
