Meet Disney's first same-sex couple!

The Disney Channel took a step toward inclusiveness when it introduced its first-ever same sex couple on an episode of its family series, "Good Luck Charlie."

According to TV Guide, the storyline features parents Amy and Bob Duncan (Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer) setting up a playdate for their preschooler Charlie (Mia Talerico) and one of her new friends. They are surprised when the friend arrives with her two moms, though the same-sex couple is quickly welcomed into their home.

Though the episode premiered this past Sunday, news of the decision broke last summer when a Disney Channel spokesperson told TV Guide that the episode was "developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness." Former Disney star Miley Cyrus even tweeted her approval last year after hearing about the news.
