Grammys wedding event embraces diversity

The Grammys always aims to be an event to remember, but Sunday's on-air wedding event may prove to go above and beyond in that category.

According to the New York Times, the celebration will bring together 34 couples of different race, sex and ages as a part of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' performance of their Grammy-nominated song "Same Love," which acts as an ideal anthem for the powerful wave of gay marriage legalization sweeping the U.S. In other words, it's going to be a real eyeful, and we're pretty sure there will be more than a few tears in the house.

In addition, Queen Latifah will officiate at the nuptials, and Madonna will join Macklemore on stage during the performance. CNN reports that Madonna will perform "Open Your Heart" to the melody of "Same Love."

Lewis said his sister Laura, who was already engaged to her boyfriend, Alex, will be among the couples tying the knot in the live event. He told the New York Times that the weddings “will be in our minds the ultimate statement of equality, that all the couples are entitled to the same exact thing.”
