Kanye West is now being investigated for his role in an alleged altercation in Beverly Hills on Monday. The alleged victim and several witnesses identified West as the suspect. Beverly Hills police said in a statement: "Mr. West had left the location prior to officers arrival. As of this writing, BHPD Detectives are conducting a follow-up investigation."
CNN reached out to representatives for Kanye but have not received a response.
TMZ is reporting that the alleged victim may have started the incident by using racist language towards paparazzi who were gethered around Kim Kardashian. TMZ is also reporting that Kardashian says the alleged victim then threatened her and she is considering filing a report of her own. HLN has not been able to independently confirm these reports. TMZ will join Jane Velez-Mitchell Tuesday at 7pm ET.
Kanye is already due in court on January 23rd for different battery charges. These charges of battery and attempted grand theft stemmed from an altercation with photographer Daniel Ramos at Los Angeles International Airport.
Ramos claims he was taking pictures of an "individual," then Kanye attacked him. Kanye's attorney entered a not guilty plea.
Kanye's trouble with the law goes back even further. In 2008, he was arrested on felony vandalism charges after another altercation with paparazzi at LAX. The two paparazzi, a videographer and a photographer, claimed their cameras were damaged in the scuffle. Kanye was arrested and released after posting $20,000 bond. The felony charges were dropped because the damage to the cameras wasn't enough to qualify as a felony.
