It's been a really great year for Katherine Webb, ever since she was ogled by ol' Brent Musberger during the most uncomfortable 10 seconds of Alabama's national championship victory last January.
She covered the Super Bowl for "Inside Edition," posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and competed in the vastly underrated reality diving competition "Splash," which we're pretty sure was just a cover to have her appear in a bathing suit on national TV.
But through all the other adventures, she never strayed from her first and most significant role, that of the First Girlfriend of College Football.
The frequent subject of camera cutaways during Alabama football games, where boyfriend A.J. McCarron quarterbacked the Crimson Tide to 11 wins, Webb probably racked up more screen time this year applauding Bama touchdowns than she did in her brief three-week "Splash" stint.
And then the Sugar Bowl happened.
Alabama suffered a shocking loss to Oklahoma. Webb's boyfriend threw two crucial interceptions. Then, on the final play of his decorated college career, McCarron was plowed into the ground and fumbled the ball, which was returned for a touchdown by the delirious Sooners.
Less delirious? Alabama's most famous fan. Who was, of course, immediately spotted by ESPN cameras and -- just like her famous gameday appearance a year earlier -- Twitter pounced. Though the tone was decidedly different this time.

Literally the first shot on the broadcast after the fumble and TD was Katherine Webb. https://t.co/ZXSAOqSlWr

With the luster fading on McCarron, attention quickly shifted to college football's other Golden Boy, Texas A&M's Heisman Trophy-winning Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football.

And that is the end of Katherine Webb's college football career. What a journey it's been.

Maybe so. But the good news is we've already moved on to the next Alabama college football meme. If you watched the game Thursday night, you might have already met her. If not, let us introduce you to Alabama's Double Wow Girl. She will be making appearances as a .gif all of next college football season.

Alabama girl saying "Wow" is my new favorite Bammer.

Well there it is. "AU_Beards" has spoken so you know it's official. The fan base, just like Week 4 of "Splash," is moving on without Katherine Webb.
