Actor James Avery passed away Tuesday following complications from heart surgery. The 68-year-old was best known for playing Will Smith's Uncle Phil in "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and Uncle Phil was best known for not playing at all.
The cantankerous judge was the family disciplinarian who was always facing off with Smith who was, well, the Fresh Prince. Which means you had a lot of fantastic moments like these:
Though the Fresh Prince wasn't always the one feeling Phil's fury:
And on more than one occasion he was actually the one bailing the Fresh Prince and Carlton (CARLTON!) out, once literally:
And then Will went and accidentally torpedoed Uncle Phil's fledgling political career with the worst-best campaign ad ever made:
