Miley Cyrus is finally revealing why she and "Hunger Games" actor Liam Hemsworth broke up, saying that her fear of being alone coupled with their rushed engagement was a recipe for disaster.
“I was so scared of ever being alone," Cyrus revealed to Barbara Walters in an interview for the upcoming special, Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013. “But now, I just feel like I can actually be happy," the "Wrecking Ball" singer admitted. "I wait for those moments of silence, when I’m just at my house, by myself.”
Cyrus, now 21, got engaged to Hemsworth when she was 19. “I don’t think I realized what 19 truly is," Cyrus admitted. "I definitely wouldn’t change being engaged." She calls being engaged "fun" because she was able to wear a "fat rock for a few years."
While breaking off the engagement was difficult, Cyrus says it was necessary: "I think, conquering that fear, this year, was actually bigger than any other transition that I had, this entire year,” she said. “I don’t ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can’t be yourself.”
Does she herself ever walking down the aisle in the future? Cyrus said, “I think I’ll want that in the times that it needs to be."
