Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are suing YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley, claiming he illegally posted a video of their elaborate proposal and engagement party.

According to the lawsuit filed on Thursday, Hurley was never invited to West's surprise proposal to Kardashian at San Francisco's AT&T Park in October. Hurley arrived with an invited guest and, according to the court documents, he was allowed to stay "only after giving his word -- including in writing -- that he would not publish any aspect of the event."

Hurley then allegedly violated that confidentiality agreement by posting a video of West's proposal to his new video-sharing website, MixBit, which is owned by his San Mateo, California, company Avos Systems Inc. The video shows West kneeling down to propose to Kardashian on the baseball field as an orchestra plays. Then, family and friends can be seen rushing out onto the field and toasting the couple.

"Undeterred by the contractual restrictions to which he had just agreed," the lawsuit states, "Hurley opted to exploit and capitalize upon the extreme public interest he knew would attach to the event, in order to boost the fortunes or his underperforming business venture."

Kardashian and West are seeking unspecified damages from Hurley and Avos Systems Inc.
